Love in A Small Package
"Love in a Small Package" is a program that was started when there were so many small birds coming into the rescue, birds such as Cockatiels, Lovebirds, Quakers, Canaries and even sometimes Finches. We wanted to offer these birds a chance not only at a great home, but one in which their presence provided someone with much needed companionship, love and a purpose. There are many lonely people that no longer feel needed and therefore have no
purpose or reason to
even get up in the morning. What better combination than one where a purpose is supplied by bringing into the home and heart a little soul called a bird! These wonderful
creatures provide companionship, love and humor. They give their person someone to talk to and to tell friends and family about. Some of our recipients are those that are housebound due to age, health, convalescing and even special needs cases.
When a person is brought to our attention who might be in need of
our program, we have an application for the program filled out by a qualified person, such as a family member, neighbor or someone willing to check on the person and bird to insure that the bird is being given the proper care. Should there be no one that can do this, we will provide necessary supervision so that no one that wants or needs this service is refused. We do all we can to help those that need what we feel is our duty to both these little packages of love and our brothers and sisters that we are commanded by our Heavenly Father to love and help.
We provide a cage, a bird (sometimes it might be two), the food to begin with and instructions on how to properly care for the newest member of the family. If any questions arise in regards to the care of the bird, we are just a phone call away. If there is ever a time that the bird has lost their person,
due to their no longer being able to care for the bird or the death of the caretaker, the bird is returned to the Rescue without question. This relieves the pressure of "who will care for my bird if something happens to me?" for the person with the bird and the supervisory person. Should a family member wish to keep the bird permanently, then an adoption contract must be signed.
